The 147-grain weight is the heavy end of 9mm, and it’s a long-time favorite for subsonic loads, including suppressed shooting. Berry’s builds this round nose plated bullet for target, competition, and recreational loads. Each one starts with a swaged lead core that is electroplated with copper, and Berry’s says the plating leaves no exposed lead. It’s sized to a true .356" diameter, and the round nose profile is the traditional 9mm shape. A 1,000-count box means you can load a lot of heavy-bullet practice ammunition before you reorder.
For loading, Berry’s recommends a taper or roll crimp, with care not to over-crimp, since that can cause core separation. Load data for cast or jacketed bullets of the same weight and profile applies. The maximum muzzle velocity is 1,250 fps, well above the speed of sound, so a subsonic load sits comfortably inside the limit. Staying under the maximum avoids core separation and accuracy problems. This is a bullet-only component, supplied in Berry’s own 1,000-count box.
