This 168-grain .308 Match Training bullet is a genuine match-grade projectile set aside as a factory second because of a shaved or slightly flattened polymer tip, not because of anything wrong with the bullet's construction. The shaved tip has no bearing on how the bullet performs for practice, load development, or high-volume range work. 168 grains in .308 is one of the most proven weights in precision rifle shooting, and this one gets you there without paying full match pricing. A solid pick for anyone burning through rounds at the range rather than chasing a competition score.
- Caliber: .30 Cal (.308" diameter)
- Bullet Weight: 168 grains
- Type: Boat Tail (Match Grade)
- Count: 250
- Application: Long-range target / practice / load development
Classified as Factory Seconds due to a shaved or flattened polymer tip. This is a cosmetic and minor aerodynamic variance only — bullet weight, jacket, and core construction are unaffected. Recommended for practice, training, and load development.
I load these up super sonic in my 300 blackout AR. The accuracy is just plain incredible @1750 fps.
The price allows me to spend more time shooting and less time being concerned with the cost. Going to the range is fun again.
Excellent value for Hornady A-Max factory seconds. My range is currently 250 yards. I can’t find any accuracy difference between these and the regular ones with the full ballistic tip.
Groups at 100 – 300 same as the tipped ones – tight groups! Have not gone longer, good training, experimenting & practice bullets.
