Ned Roberts’ quarter-bore has been a handloader’s favorite since Remington commercialized it in 1934. The .257 Roberts is built on the 7x57 Mauser case, necked down to take a .257" bullet. Its +P designation is the only official one for a rifle cartridge: SAAMI’s maximum is 58,000 psi, against 54,000 psi for standard loads. For handloaders with a modern action, that headroom is the reason to shoot it.
