Do primers require HAZMAT shipping?

Yes. By federal law, primers ship as hazardous materials via ground carriers. Many of our primer listings include free HAZMAT shipping, so the listed price is the full price. Primers cannot ship to some jurisdictions with special restrictions; check your local laws.

Are factory-seconds primers safe and reliable?

Factory-seconds primers may have failed a cosmetic inspection or might have a slightly higher misfire rate (which is still incredibly low). They are safe and great for practice, and come off the same production lines as first-quality primers. We recommend them for volume range and practice loads, and first-quality primers for match and hunting ammunition where absolute consistency matters most.

What's the difference between standard and magnum primers?

Magnum primers deliver a hotter, longer ignition flame for large cases, heavy charges of slow-burning ball powders, and very cold conditions. Standard primers suit most common loads. When switching between them, reduce your charge and work back up using published load data.

Can I buy primers in bulk?

Yes. We sell primers in 1,000-count packs through 5,000-count cases and larger, with bulk pricing that's usually among the lowest online. High-volume and OEM buyers can contact wholesale@ravenrocksprecision.com.

What primer brands do you carry?

Our regular lineup includes Ginex, WRE, factory-seconds lines, and lead-free primers from RUAG, with additional brands (like Fiocchi) arriving as closeout and distributor lots are secured. We have a rotating selection, which is the nature of the primer market. We strive to keep core sizes stocked and will continue to offer a more robust selection as our business grows.

Do you sell lead-free primers?

Yes. We stock lead-free primers for indoor ranges, training environments, and shooters reducing lead exposure. Raven Rocks Precision is one of the few US retailers that regularly stocks lead-free primers and projectiles.

Why are primers so hard to find?

Primer manufacturing capacity is limited, demand surges with market events, and most production goes to loaded-ammunition plants before reaching retail. As a distributor with direct manufacturer relationships, Raven Rocks Precision buys at volume, which is why we have primers in stock when many stores don't.
