Full metal jacket bullets—often just referred to as FMJ—are the backbone of nearly all the handgun bullets we sell. They feature a lead core with a copper jacket, and the bases are exposed lead bases. This is different from a jacketed hollow point, which has a copper base and an open hollow point at the tip of the bullet.
These bullets are really good for standard target, range, and training practice. Some folks also use them for competition, although many prefer jacketed hollow points to reduce lead fouling when shooting in high volume. For most people, an inexpensive full metal jacket bullet is one of the best choices. They’re well-made, and you don’t have to worry about maximum velocities, especially for handgun use.
We currently have several types in stock. Dead Nuts is essentially our house brand—we’re partnered with them—so you’ll see a lot of Dead Nuts bullets available. We seat our 124 grain FMJs to an overall length (OAL) of about 1.10 inches with just enough crimp to remove case flare but not so much that it hinders feeding. Always test your loads in your firearm to confirm reliable chambering.
Do your FMJ bullets meet any military or law enforcement standards?
While some of our FMJ are NATO-spec, we do not usually include that information in the listings. We do offer frangible bullets designed to meet MIL/LE requirements for training environments where ricochet reduction is critical.
