The .35 Whelen is a powerful and versatile rifle cartridge that was developed by Colonel Townsend Whelen in the early 1920s. It is based on the .30-06 Springfield cartridge, with the case necked up to accept .358-inch diameter bullets.

The .35 Whelen is known for its excellent performance in terms of both power and accuracy. It offers a significant increase in bullet diameter compared to the .30-06, which results in enhanced stopping power and better terminal ballistics.

With the .35 Whelen, hunters can effectively take down a wide variety of game, from medium-sized animals like deer and hogs to larger game such as elk and moose. The cartridge delivers a good balance of energy and penetration, making it a popular choice for hunting in dense vegetation or at longer ranges.

One of the advantages of the .35 Whelen is its versatility. It can be loaded with a range of bullet weights, typically ranging from 180 to 300 grains, allowing hunters to tailor their ammunition to specific game and shooting conditions. Additionally, the cartridge can be used in a variety of rifles, including bolt-action, single-shot, and semi-automatic platforms.

The popularity of the .35 Whelen has endured over the years due to its impressive performance and loyal following among handloaders who appreciate its versatility and the ability to fine-tune their loads for optimal performance.

The .35 Whelen is a powerful and versatile rifle cartridge that offers excellent stopping power and accuracy. Whether you're hunting medium or large game, this cartridge provides the necessary energy and performance to get the job done effectively.
