The 6.5-284 Norma began as a wildcat cartridge based on the .284 Winchester cartridge necked down to 6.5 mm. It is known for its flat trajectory, low wind deflection, and high energy retention at nearly all distances. It can produce velocities of 3100fps with 120 grain bullets, 3000fps with 129 grain bullets and 2900fps with 140 grain bullets from a 24” barrel. The 6.5-284 Norma is a popular choice for benchrest, hunting, target shooting, and varmint hunting due to its accuracy and power.

Just what I needed to resize to my 25-284, this is perfect.

I have loaded the brass but have not had a chance to shoot it yet. I inspected the brass and one piece had a noticable blemshish alongside the case side. I full length resized brass after a dipping of Redding neck grahite on neck, and liberal application of Redding sizing paste. The cases were sized and then tumbled in Lyman Corn Cob media. The cases were then inspected and flash holes cleaned. Note, the one previous case still had a noticable defect on the side after tumbling. I measured all the cases and case length varied between .008 of an inch. About half of the cases exceeded minium case length dimension by .006 inches. The rest of cases were with in .002 of an inch of minium case length. All cases were trimmed and chamfered. All cases were primed with Federal 210 M Match primers. I loaded all 20 cases with IMR 4831 and 120 grain Sierra Pro Hunter bullets. I have not shot any of this ammo at this time and I will need to report on accuracy out of My Cooper Model 52 Jackson Hunter. I left out the powder charge on purpose until i shoot and verify velocities.

Raven Rocks Precision?...... I had never heard of this company. Did a search on Ammo seek, looking for some 6.5x284 Norma brass because, I was unable to find any, They were the first one to come up! I went on their site and guess what...... They had the 6.5x284 Norma in stock.....I thought, no way! So, I gave them a call. No answer, I left a message and sure enough, within about 15 minutes, I received a call back. So, I asked the question..... Do ya'll have 6.5x284 Norma brass in stock? Yes, we have it in stock. So, I mentioned about not being able to find it and told him that I had looked over the site and read about the company.
